In the fall of 1993 the Gopher hockey team moved into their new home across the street from their old home, "The Barn" (now the Maturi Pavilion).  On August 21, 1993 the Gophers introduced their new home to their fans by holding a special Hockey Alumni Legends Game.

In 2017 Mariucci Arena was renamed to 3M Arena at Mariucci.

In late March of 2023 construction began at 3M Arena at Mariucci to reduce the size of the ice sheet from the Olympic size of 200 x 100 down to a hybrid size of 200 x 89.  Along with changing the size of the ice sheet, the refriguration system was upgraded, the boards and glass were replaced and the lighting in the arena was upgraded.  All of these upgrades were successfully completed before the start of the next season.

On January 31st and February 1st 2025, the largest combined weekend attendance record was set at 21,641.  This was a weekend series against Wisconsin that saw the Gophers win both games 5-2 and 4-1.  The previous combined attendance record was 21,310 and was set on February 9th and 10th in 2024, when the Gophers defeated Penn State twice.
