Every year since 1977 the International Ice Hockey Federation
(IIHF) has organized and held the U20 World Junior Championships (WJC). The
tournament has been played in various countries throughout the world and
is usually held near the end of December through the beginning of
January. This tournament brings together some of the best young (under
20 year old) hockey
players from around the world. Many of these players end up playing
and being stars in the NHL. For more information on the IIHF and

Below is a breakdown of the Gopher players that have participated in the
WJC as player, coach and or assistant coach.
Currently the United States has won 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 7 Bronze medals
in the championship. |
